Erin's Bio:
If five years ago someone would’ve told me I’d become a farmer I would’ve thought it more likely I’d get hit by lightning. But here I am farming, and it is a lot more fun than getting electrocuted.
It all started during my senior year in college. As I was finishing my degree in political science and economics, I was also exploring my interest in good food. Not just good food, but real food, and not just cooking and eating it, but growing my own real food.
After helping start a campus garden that spring, I continued to look for ways to gain experience in organic agriculture. I spent the next year volunteering and interning on organic farms around the country. Traveling from Wisconsin to New Mexico to Oregon, I soaked up as much as I could at each different farm. I had meant to stop somewhere along the way and reassess what I wanted to be when I grew up, but I couldn’t tear myself away from the farm life. Being that I greatly value self-sufficiency and good food, the lifestyle fits me quite well.
I am happy to be at the Farm of MN this year and am looking forward to a busy, bountiful, and delicious season.
